The University of Miami/UHealth Department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Clinical Research Coordinator 1 to work at our UHealth Medical Campus. The Clinical Research Coordinator 1 serves as an entry level clinical research professional that has a basic foundation in clinical research through assigned responsibilities in data management or implementing clinical research protocols. This role exhibits increased learned skills and flexibility in performing duties and assumes responsibility for simple clinical research protocols and timelines. Core responsibilities include performing chart review/pre-screening activities for study participant eligibility and coordination of simple clinical research protocols; coordinating routine activities of clinical studies including data collection and maintenance, planning study timelines, scheduling appointments and study visits, meeting scheduling, and project evaluation; performing moderate to complex research tests/experiments and adapting procedures for quality improvement under supervision; understanding and following technical instructions for operating clinical research equipment and problem solving operational failures; addressing adverse events per protocol and advocating for study participants and quality standards; maintaining requisite skills and mandatory training in safety, equality, responsible conduct of research, continuing education, and research competencies. The position is within the Neurology Department, Cerebrovascular Division, requiring extensive coordination of several research studies for three principal investigators, experience with patient interaction/evaluation, and regulatory aspects of clinical research. Duties include assisting PIs in developing UM protocols for IRB submission and maintenance, administering informed consent forms, interacting with sponsoring agencies, coordinating patient recruitment and screening, managing study evaluations and data collection, maintaining study candidate pools, contacting patients for follow-up, collecting vital signs and lab specimens, preparing lab samples for shipping, coordinating testing per protocol, assisting patients with protocol procedures, maintaining accurate records of medications, and keeping patient charts updated. Additional duties may be assigned by the PI within established policy. Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience. Skills required include accuracy, attention to detail, ability to analyze and prioritize work under pressure, discretion with confidential information, flexibility to work evenings, nights, and weekends, commitment to University values, and ability to work independently or collaboratively.
