Job Description
SUMMARY
The Retail Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all retail inventory-related processes, ensuring effective execution of receiving, compliance, product readiness, and inventory accuracy across locations. This role manages cycle counts, discount and online menu strategies, product profile setup, shrinkage reduction initiatives, and the overall health of inventory systems in partnership with the Supply Chain Manager.
As a key member of the operations team, the Retail Inventory Manager collaborates consistently with retail leadership, store teams, and compliance departments to ensure all inventory operations are efficient, compliant, and aligned with company standards and goals. The Retail Inventory Manager may also act as Store Manager when the seat is vacant, as assigned by retail leadership.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (the list is not all inclusive)· Directs and oversees all inventory control activities, including receiving, storage, FIFO rotation, and inventory accuracy.
· Ensures inventory audits and cycle counts are scheduled, executed, and reconciled regularly.
· Monitors inventory health, including freshness, expiration dates, and regulatory compliance.
· Leads initiatives to reduce shrinkage through training, monitoring, implementing efficiencies, and overseeing audits.
· Maintains full compliance with local and state cannabis regulations, including METRC reporting and documentation.
· Oversees integrity of inventory data across POS, METRC, and ERP systems.
· Leads the creation and refinement of SOPs to ensure consistency and compliance.
· Ensures timely and accurate product setup and categorization across all systems.
· Maintains synchronization between physical inventory and digital systems.
· Manages online and in-store menus to ensure accurate availability and pricing.
· Oversees creation and maintenance of product profiles across platforms.
· Partners with retail leadership to plan and implement discount strategies, promotions, and clearance sales.
· Acts as liaison between inventory operations and other departments including Supply Chain, Retail Leadership, Compliance, and Finance.
· Participates in recurring cross-functional meetings to align inventory strategies with operational objectives.
· Provides training and guidance on best practices in inventory handling and shrinkage reduction.
· Ensures all storage and processing areas are clean, secure, and compliant.
· Leads quarterly clean-ups and participate in regular walk-throughs to address facility issues.
· Supports back-of-house readiness for audits, inspections, and internal reviews.
· Provides weekly inventory health reports highlighting stock accuracy, expirations, and compliance.
· Delivers monthly shrinkage reports, with analysis of causes and corrective measures.
· Presents quarterly audit reviews with performance metrics and efficiency recommendations.
· Contributes to annual inventory performance reports, including shrinkage trends, compliance adherence, and process improvement initiatives.
· Acts as Store Manager when assigned by retail leadership.
· Performs other duties as assigned to support organizational objectives.

· Demonstrates the ability to be flexible and work effectively across various sectors of the department as needed or requested by a direct supervisor. This includes the capacity to support other departments, ensuring seamless collaboration and responsiveness to organizational needs.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
· Constantly : Walking, sitting at a desk, grasping/gripping, bending/stooping/squatting, finger dexterity, computer input, coordination of hand and eye.
· Frequently: Standing for long periods of time, climbing stairs, and twisting.
· Occasionally: Reaching above shoulder height, lifting 50 lbs., ability to do push/pull motions.
· Must be available for nights, weekends, holidays, and occasional overnight shift (9PM-5AM) as needed.
· Travel to site locations required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· Minimum 3 years of inventory management experience; cannabis industry experience strongly preferred.
· Strong knowledge of inventory systems including METRC, ERP, and POS platforms.
· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or a related field (or equivalent experience), preferred.
· Proven ability to manage compliance within a regulated environment.
· Demonstrated success in reducing shrinkage through audits, training, and operational improvements.
· Strong organizational, communication, and analytical skills.
· Flexible and adaptable in fast-paced, evolving environments.
