Pay Range: $29.36 $42.61 per hour

Summary: The Research Engagement Librarian is a key member of the information, instruction, and reference team. The role supports the Rush community with tools, skills, and information to foster advanced research activities among investigators. The incumbent works with faculty, researchers, students, and staff to increase research impact, ensure compliance with funder mandates, coordinate activities, promote opportunities, and support high?quality, high?impact research.

Responsibilities


  • Develop and implement a robust research support service for the library.
  • Initiate and partner with research personnel on library?research collaborations, including scoping and systematic reviews, funding compliance, data management, data visualization, research dissemination, and research promotion and impact.
  • Develop and conduct training, group instruction, and workshops on digital scholarship, data science research methods, tools, platforms, and best practices.
  • Provide guidance and project support to large?scale research grants and projects utilizing software for data analysis and visualization, GIS, text mining, digitization, metadata creation, and social network analysis.
  • Conduct systematic and scoping reviews and provide training and support for reviews and intensive literature searches.
  • Provide time?sensitive scholarly research articles to members of Rushs research communities.
  • Promote the creation of researcher profiles documenting skills, grants, publications, and collaborations.
  • Provide training, instruction, and support for PubMed, NCBI resources, and other specialized databases.
  • Provide data management support for data deposits, citations, ontologies, best practices, and funder compliance.
  • Maintain awareness of emerging technology, trends, tools, methods, and initiatives in digital scholarship/data science.
  • Assist in the selection of software and other tools, including those funded through research grant opportunities.
  • Assist researchers with implementing funder mandates and requirements, including updates on grant?related governmental policies.
  • Collaborate with other library staff on research impact metrics and scholarly communications issues.
  • Assist with the grant application process by providing literature and other relevant information.
  • Work with researchers to identify collaborators, partners, and research opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development and evaluation of web?delivered courses and instructional materials.
  • Create research guides to support student and faculty educational and research activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • MLS from an ALA?accredited school or equivalent combination of relevant Masters degree and a minimum of 57 years of experience supporting research and research?related activities.
  • Knowledge of evidence?based practice goals and implementation.
  • Ability to identify and develop new collaboration opportunities with research departments.
  • Demonstrated experience searching biomedical literature and using NCBI databases and tools.
  • Demonstrated experience providing data management support.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the research lifecycle.
  • Experience with collaboration tools, statistical software, course management software, and development of online instructional modules or tutorials.
  • Experience providing advanced information services in an academic health sciences library, including scoping and systematic reviews.
  • Experience teaching information literacy skills and providing reference services or providing educational and research technology support.
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with all levels of library staff and patrons.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Second Masters degree in a health?related field.
  • Experience producing and compiling research impact metrics.
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics software and scientific programming software, such as SPSS or R.


Physical Demands
  • Limited physical effort required; light lifting of less than 20?lbs. Ability to routinely bend, reach above the shelves, navigate stairs, and perform routine library functions.
