Overview H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a highly motivated Skilled Laborer (Road) 90.09 to develop skills to perform as a laborer on a project on 95 BR3, as part of the PennDOT On-the-Job Training (OJT) Program. Competitive salary commensurate with experience 100% Company-paid Health Benefits 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan Tuition reimbursement programs available to qualifying employees for approved programs Additional training programs including on the job, online through H&K Academy, manufacturer offered training, and more Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Performs all work according to OSHA and H&K Safety policies Work with the labor crew and foreperson to develop skills and meet project objectives in Reading roadway plans and standard drawings Use & care of all hand and power tools Construction and assembling concrete forms (load transfer units) Handling and placement of reinforcement steel Placement, finishing and curing of the concrete Other duties as required Qualifications Required Skills, Education, and Experience High school diploma or equivalent (such as the GED) from an accredited educational institution Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered Demonstrated ability to handle the technical elements of the job Demonstrated aptitude for and interest in heavy & highway construction Valid license (i.e., equipment operator, truck driver, or highway) Not be accepted as a trainee in any classification in which they have successfully completed a training program leading toward journey level status, or in which such a person has been gainfully employed as a journey by virtue of informal on-the-job training Not be an individual or apprentice who enrolled as “trainee” and quit three (3) times Problem solving Learning agility Attention to detail Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Physical Demands Frequently required to Use hands and arms to finger, handle, reach, and feel Talk and hear Stand, walk, and climb Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds Work Environment Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles Noise level is usually moderate The H&K Group, Inc. provides complete heavy civil contracting and construction materials solutions with safety, speed, quality, efficiency, and value.
